Cats are obligate carnivores, which is a fancy way of saying they are built to run on meat. The best cat treats respect that: protein-first, minimally processed, and free of the fillers and grains cats have no use for. They are also famously particular, so a treat has to actually earn that slow blink of approval. Everything in our cat range is made in our HACCP-certified kitchen on the Sunshine Coast with that in mind.
What to look for in a cat treat
- A named animal protein first. Fish, chicken or lamb should lead the ingredients, not grain or filler.
- As few ingredients as possible. Single-ingredient and limited-ingredient treats are easiest on sensitive tummies and best for fussy cats, because there is nothing to object to.
- A real reason to eat it. High protein for lean muscle, omega-3 for skin and coat, or green-lipped mussel for joints. A treat can do a small job as well as taste good.
Fussy cat tip: Offer one or two pieces by hand at the same time each day. Cats warm to a new food through routine and scent far more than variety, so give a treat a few quiet tries before deciding it is a no.
Our cat range, and what each is good for
Fish Nibbles
Gently dehydrated fish, rich in the omega-3 that supports a glossy coat and healthy skin. A crunchy everyday reward for the seafood lovers.
Chicken Chews
Slowly dried chicken breast: lean, high in protein and naturally low in fat, so they suit a weight-conscious cat. Easy to break into smaller pieces.
Lamb Puff (lamb lung)
Light, airy, single-ingredient Australian lamb lung. Soft and easy to chew, which makes it a kind option for older cats or those with sensitive teeth.
Green-Lipped Mussel
A natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin, the building blocks for joint mobility. A useful everyday treat for senior cats and busy, athletic ones.
Treats are for more than spoiling
Used well, a small, high-value treat is a training and enrichment tool. Break one into tiny pieces for clicker training, tuck a few into a puzzle feeder, or use one to coax a nervous cat out of its shell. As a rule of thumb, keep treats to no more than 10% of your cat's daily calories and adjust meals to match.
What makes ours different
We have made treats for cats, dogs, horses and small pets since 2007, and we are now stocked across Australia, the UK, US, Ireland, Singapore, Germany and Japan. Every cat treat is Australian made in our own HACCP-certified kitchen, with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and no grains or fillers a cat does not need.
Frequently asked questions
Are natural cat treats better than processed ones?
Generally yes. Natural, minimally processed treats tend to be higher in protein, lower in additives and easier to digest than heavily processed options.
How many cat treats can I give a day?
Keep treats to around 10% of your cat's daily calories, and reduce meals a little to account for them.
Are these suitable for kittens?
Most are, once a kitten is eating solid food, provided you break them into small pieces and supervise.
Are they grain-free?
Yes. Our cat range is grain-free and gluten-free, which suits cats with sensitivities.
Will fussy cats actually eat them?
Often, yes, because single-ingredient meat and fish treats smell and taste like the real thing. Introduce a new treat slowly and at a consistent time of day.
