Huds and Toke, the family-run dog and horse treat bakery in Coolum Beach, Queensland, makes Doggie Doughnuts, Krispy Kreme Japan's first doughnuts for dogs. They went on sale in Krispy Kreme stores across Japan and on its official online shop for Dog Day, 1 November 2026 (Krispy Kreme Japan).

It's the latest chapter in a partnership that started in 2021, when Huds and Toke designed and made Krispy Kreme Australia's first Doggie Doughnuts (Krispy Kreme Australia, 2021). Since then Huds and Toke has been commissioned every year to make them for International Dog Day, with the treats sold in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand (ABC Rural, 2023), and Japan is now the fifth.
“Seeing our donuts in a Krispy Kreme box in Japan is a pretty special moment for us. We started this business at our kitchen table. Now dogs in Tokyo are getting the same treats we bake here in Coolum.”

What launched in Japan
The range was announced on Krispy Kreme Japan's Instagram on 30 October 2026:
- Six designs, each modelled on a favourite Krispy Kreme doughnut, including Original Glazed and Chocolate Sprinkle.
- Made to look like the real thing, with a firm, chewy bite.
- A Doggie Doughnuts Special Set: six doughnuts for the humans, the dog doughnuts and an original Krispy Kreme bandana for the dog, sold only in Krispy Kreme stores. The other items are on its online shop.
- Price: ¥5,500 (tax included) for the Special Set, as reported by Japanese marketing title AdverTimes.
Japan's Dog Day falls on 1 November because the date, 11/1, reads "wan wan wan", the Japanese way of saying "woof woof woof".
“Japan has been on our map for a long time. To launch there with Krispy Kreme, on Japan's own Dog Day, is a huge thrill for the whole team.”
Why matching doughnuts
AdverTimes headlined its story with the reason people want this: owners want to eat the same thing as their dog. That's the whole idea behind the box. You get your doughnut, your dog gets one that looks just like it, and you have them together.
It's also why the photos work. Two matching doughnuts, one in your hand and one held up to a wet nose, is about the most shareable picture an owner can take. The launch post passed 4,000 likes in its first two days.
“We had so much fun reimagining Australia's favourite Krispy Kreme flavours as dog-friendly treats.”

Emma and Russell Gibbons started Huds and Toke at their kitchen table in 2012. The name comes from two imaginary dragons dreamed up by their sons (ABC Rural). Today the treats are baked in the company's own purpose-built facility on the Sunshine Coast.
Japan isn't new territory. In 2017, with backing from an Advance Queensland Ignite Ideas grant, Huds and Toke set up warehousing and distribution in Japan and began selling there online (Queensland Government). In 2023, Emma won the Queensland AgriFutures Rural Women's Award (ABC Rural).
The 2021 Krispy Kreme Australia range was handmade in a HACCP-accredited Queensland facility. It was, in Emma's words at the time, "our biggest manufacturing project to date" (Krispy Kreme Australia), and the team has been making them every year since.
A doughnut for you, a donut for them
One safety note, because people will ask: the doughnut on your plate is yours. RSPCA Australia lists chocolate among the foods that are toxic to dogs (RSPCA Australia), and a sugar-glazed human doughnut is not dog food. Dog doughnuts are made to look the part and be safe for dogs. If your dog has allergies or a medical condition, check with your Australian vet before trying any new treat, ours included.
